Telangana CM KCR visited Siddipet before leaving for Delhi and made a huge statement of the possibility of a second international airport in Siddipet.
TRS leaders have defended the statement, saying that it was only a proposal and not to make it political. After the statement, KCR Delhi tour and meeting Aviation minister Hardip Singh Puri had grabbed the attention. All people of Siddipet and Telangana expected for the official announcement over the airport.
But, KCR did not request the second international airport and discussed about six new airports in other Telangana districts Peddapalli , Basanth Nagar, Warangal Urban, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Bhadradri and Adilabad.
Fact is that GMR, who constructed Rajiv Gandhi International Airport had made an agreement before constructing the airport that no other airport should be constructed for next 30 years around 150kms around airport radius. So, there is no possibility of getting a second international airport in Siddipet.
